Decline of print news

Image result for newspaper dying
News papers are dieing out and loosing sales because all news is now available for free online or vire TV. Newspapers used to be the main source of news, and had no competition. However with the development of new technology it has been made prehistoric and the main readers are from older generations as new generation grew up with newer forms of news. The newspaper industry isn't so much falling it is just evolving on more digital platforms instead of print. The majority of newspapers now have online websites uploading on regular schedules. These newspapers are either in the same format or adapted for online purposes. these articles are funded vire subscription , donations or advertising.

Interactivity

little interactivity as you can only take the papers word for it as you are reading an article. The fact that information only goes the one way means that you cant discuss it or have your say. NDM completely changes this as there are comment boxes, apps and sharing tools online, this all adds to the interactivity of the newspaper. For example the guardian website has interactions in the page letting you brows as comment as you please. The pictures and headline news often rotate on the front page of the website allowing the reader to get up to date in seconds. Readers can also sign in to the website to access the news, that they are interested in such as sport and other lifestyle choices. You can also focus on the news in certain areas for more local news stories.

LiuYuping argues that there are 3 features of interactivity.

  1. Active control
  2. Two way communication. Anyone can comment from anywhere.
  3. Synchronicity. As soon as story breaks, it is online as you don't need to wait for it to be printed.

Citizen journalism= Citizens playing a role in gathering news is becoming a massive part of gathering, reporting and disseminating the news.
User generated content= any from of content created by the users of a system or service and made available on a publicity system. UGC mostly appears on online platforms, on social media websites or videos, blogs or comments.

Videos Games And Regulation

Some people believe that violent video games such as GTA encourage behaviour such as violence and shootings as gamers are influenced by the actions experienced during their gaming. however David Gauntlet would argue that sophisticated nature of he gamers would make them impartial to such acts of violence as the games are seen as more of a escape from their stressful lives than a simulator. All major video games are regulated vire pegie ensuring that the games are fit for a set audience.

I decided to completely start my cover again as the feedback showed vital floors in my first magazine. Now my background relates to the subject of the magazine and all the articles are relevant. In creating this cover it has massively helped me progress my photo shop skills. My cover represents the codes and conventions of everyday magazines by having a bold title/headings, and the articles are relevant to normal sports magazines as inform the reader of interviews inside the magazine and upcoming events. the audience for my magazine are boxing fans who follow the sport. This makes it easy to attract their attention as they already know what they are looking for.

sheldon

Image result for big issue cover march 16 22 2015
The use of colour is used to represent Sheldon and his unique personality. The colour red has a connotation of energy excitement and drive to discover and succeed which is relevant to sheldons personality, like wise is the light blue which has connotations of trust, safety, acceptance and faith which is relevant to Sheldon's childish nature. The yellow represents his flair of optimism, his passion to succeed and his warmth as a character... it also matches the colour on his shirt. the reader of the big issue is often young therefore they are likely to know him therefore this creates a pastiche for the audience resulting in them feeling cleaver.

In addition the main image of the dennotationted crown has a connotation of royalty, and success but also superiority and arrogance. He is the "Geek who inherited the earth"
The denotation of the Flash tshirt has a Connotation of a childish, nerdy character who is obsessed by super hero's which would normally be looked down upon however this challenges this as he is proud and confident in his geeky self. Additionally the use of physics symbols makes the reader think of intellect, imagination and the vastness of space which has connotations of anything being possible.

The gaze denotes happiness, innocents, purity and other childish cheeky qualities which all represent the character and the show. this whole front cover promotes the show and gives it gratification for its success.

The format is not traditional which sets it apart from other magazines making it instantly recognisable so more people find it which is a marketing technique. This magazine is uncultured for a simplistic easy reading style which suits the youthful target audience which are viewers of big bang aged between 13-30.

The genre is a sitcom/ science comedy. "The geek who inherited the earth" This cover line represents the story inside as a man child of success. It also has connotations that he is loved by many people and it was never his aim to become so popular. He has done this accidentally. It also shows how being a geek is now popular and desirable.

My name is Mark Redish.

I love media because it allows anyone to find out information about the world from whatever background.  Im am excited to learn about the way that media affects people and controls them. I am also keen to find out how films such as music videos are made and all the editing and camera angles involved. Other aspects of media that interest me are the different kind of papers and how they are targeted for different audiences. The media basses the end product around what would appeal to there target audience.

Explaining Minecraft to an elderly person.

Mine craft is a game displayed on the TV controlled by a fancy TV remote. This game features the building of object and building using blocked shaped items. Multiple people can play this game at once even if they are in the same room due to electrical communications. The game is made possible vie inserting a disk into a electrical box which is connected to the TV. The product that the consumer buys is a disc in a case or a vertical product, which only appears on the screen.

Formats;
Xbox one, 360/ps3,4/PC/ios/android.

Distribution; purchase over Internet, PlayStation network, xbox store, real life stores.

Critical reception; it won 5 awards on release at 3 conference.

What is this institution responsible for mine craft and how did we get to this point?

Mojang is responsible for the 2nd most popular game ever (minecraft) and was developed by Marcus pearson. It was realised on may 2009 on PC and Xbox 360. Within weeks it had won over 3 awards at conferences and was a massive hit right away. The game was later released on the next gen consoles and was even sold vire the cloud as a digital product. This minimised costs for mojang as they didn’t need to make a physical product ( a disk)in order to make money. 20 years on from tetras it has sold the most amount of units for any game in the space of 10 years. it has a large following and many consumers purchase add on's in game to expand their gaming experience. it is also a way to keep minecraft popular and current. the majority of minecraft content on the Internet is made by the consumers which means that minecraft has a lot of free following. compared to tetras which was released and never expanded and there was little following for the game as there was no Internet.

Differences between online and offline news.

Offline news such as news papers are traditional and papers such as national broad sheets show very relevant news often financial. More local papers focus on local news from a specific area and advertise for local businesses. Offline new is published on a pacific schedule often weekly or daily. this limits makes the time from the news occurring to it being published longer. Also offline news is mainly printed on paper which is bad for the environment and costs a lot of money.
However online news requires no paper therefore no production cost. Often this makes the news free or a small subscription. There are two forms of online news, web editions and E editions. E editions are formatted like the real news paper and may have more adverts. These papers take a lot more time and often cost money. Web editions are online papers made especially for the internet in a separate style. these show brief news and are free. This is the next step up from E editions. However these editions are liable to fake news often.
Henry Jenkins invented the idea that the modern web has allowed audiences to create as well as read texts resulting in appropriation of fake news and re-use of it in the form of satirical photos and videos, personal insights into scandals (that may not even exist) and spreading of fake news on blogs and social media. Furthermore, this results in fake news being consumed by more and more people convincing them its true which, as I have previously explained, can cause horrible and unfair results on political matters as well as other things.
Feedback from magazine cover.

positives
negatives
Nice use colours
Title is bold and bright. Creative
White righting stands out
Cleaver photography
Ascetically pleasing colours.
Title is unique
poorly blended images.
Title is wonky
Background image doesn't relate
Boring font
Gold is tacky
And lots of space
Quick tips are childish
Dark photo
Will smith, king Kong doesn't fit in

In conclusion the negatives far outweighed the positives of my cover. So i am going to address these issues and create a different cover as this cover is pretty poor as it was my first photo shop experience.
