Fake news is a type of propaganda which has a purpose to misinform people of other politicians, leaders or organisations' wrong-doings in order to make them look bad.
Fake news is difficult to spot, especially when it is so easy to copy real news in modern times. A recent study led by Stanford's Graduate School of Education revealed that high school and middle school students struggled tell if news if real of fake. This shows that fake news can be very effective as it is very believable and often tarnishes peoples and companies reputations.
The issue with fake news is that it can actually have tragic results. For example, 14% of Trump voters believed that a made-up story about Hillary Clinton running a child sex circle, even though this had been debunked. This therefore means that fake news can actually effect politics and may have even been the reason why Trump is now president of the USA.
