cultivation theory.

those whole watch more TV are more susceptible to media than people who
watch less TV.

TV is a fictional art form and doesn't reflect real life, just distracts you from your life. some people be live TV i=s a reflection of real life and what happens in it happens in real life. more than half of TV characters are involved in violence each week. less than 1% of people are actually involved in violence each week. mean world syndrome is when too much TV reflecting negative things make you question how bad the world really is. every type of media (not just TV) does this. a murder show about new york for 8 hours a day will make you think bad things about new york.
main streaming is when different forms of media cover the same thing making it more popular. so if you watch a lot of TV you are going to be mainstreamed by the medias ideas. esspecially when the veiw has little first hand knowledge to the subject.

Resonance/ the extent to which media representations are similar to personal experences.

Cultivation theroery examples. The wire makes bultavor a scarier place than it actually is. we kniow from watching batman that new york is curupt and crime ridden.

mean world syndrom examples. news often only shows bad stuff suh as syria and after a while you think syria is a dangerious place and the world is against eachother.

mainstreaming examples. dysney, men are all powerfull and women are reliant on men and seen as items of beuty.

examples of resonance. adverts in the middle of the day are targeted at people who are of work. ppi. loans. injury lawers for you.
